

The funeral service for Mr. Robert F. Bond, 85, of West Columbia, will be held 10:30 o’clock, Thursday, July 20, 2011, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with The Rev. Olin B. Isenhour officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 10 o’clock. Memorials in memory of Robert F. Bond may be made to St. Paul’s Reformed Church, Organ Fund, 3562 Startown Rd, Newton, NC 28658.
Mr. Bond died Tuesday, July 19, 2011. A son of the late Morris William and Nell Fegan Bond, Bob was born in Richland County on October 13, 1925. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Bob worked at Strock Tire before joining the South Carolina Farm Bureau from which he retired in 1990.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Robert H. and Nancy Bond of Rochester NH; grandson, Tim and June Bond; great-grandsons, Derek and Gavin of Brentwood, NH; granddaughter, Robin B. Berger; great-grandsons, Robert and Colby; sister-in-law, Mary Bond of Columbia; sister-in-law and caregiver, Martha H. Headrick of Newton, NC; as well as a niece, Debbie Ebener and a nephew, Kelly Bond. Judy, Ken and Johnathan Rudy were faithful friends and neighbors to Maxine and Bob for many years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bond was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maxine H. Bond, after 45 years of marriage, and his brother, Morris W. (Jim) Bond, Jr. Bob and Maxine dearly loved all their Boston Terriers who preceded them in death: Cricket, BoomBoom, Mindy and Boomer. Their last Boston, Casey, was Bob’s faithful companion and helped brighten the days after Maxine’s loss until his death a few weeks ago.
The family greatly appreciates the loving care given to Bob during the last weeks of his life by Harmony Care Hospice. His caregivers: Jenny, Janet, Sue, Cindy, Debbie, Krista, and Stephanie were angels of mercy for Bob and his family.
