He was born on March 9, 1946 in Lexington, SC to the late Sidney Ray Roland and Pauline Stoudemire Roland.
He served in the South Carolina Army National Guard, 151st Signal Battalion, from March 1964 to May 1975. Upon completing his service to our country, he was employed by C. R. Jackson, Inc. for 23 years.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn, of 55 years; a son, Eric Roland (Kim); two granddaughters, Haley Clayton (Sean) and Erin Durney (Naithan); one grandson, Ryan Storey; two great granddaughters, Bri and Julie Clayton; a sister, Dorothy Spradley (Steve); one brother, Larry Roland (Barbara) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Roger is reunited at the gates of Heaven by his parents; his sister, Patricia Lybrand; his brothers, Ronald Roland and Wayne Roland and two daughters, Karen Robinson and Lynn Kyzer.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Calvary Chapel of Lexington, 1156 Barr Road, Lexington, SC 29072. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
