Ronald Edward Scarborough

Ronald Edward Scarborough, 62, of West Columbia, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012. Born in Columbia on September 26, 1949, he was the son of the late Lewis Edward Scarborough and Mary Bozwell Scarborough Mozingo. Ronald attended Belmont Baptist Church in his youth, and worked with Carolina Fire and Safety. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed cooking for others. Mr. Scarborough was a member of the Broad River Masonic Lodge and the Jamil Shrine Temple.

Survivors include his wife, Melinda Mangum Scarborough of West Columbia, SC; daughter, Tracy L Scarborough; son-in-law, Thomas S Nielsen; and granddaughter, Veronica Harleigh Nielsen, all of Redondo Beach, CA; sister-in-law, Cynthia Mangum Monenschein and husband Ed of Newberry, SC; brother-in-laws, Robert Mangum and Charles Mangum; sister, Charlotte Grant of Gulf Shores, AL; brother, Bob Davis of Augusta, GA; and a number of loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his brother, James Edward Scarborough.

The funeral service for Mr. Scarborough will be at held at 2 o’clock Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in the Elmwood Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 501 Elmwood Ave., Columbia, with The Rev. Mark Wendland officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 o’clock.
