

COLUMBIA - Mrs. Ruth M. Price, 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 22, 2012. She died peacefully at the Carroll Campbell Place in Lexington, SC. She was a native of Winnsboro, South Carolina and moved to Columbia in 1951 upon marrying the love of her life, Pete Price, whom she met at the age of 14 at Lebanon Presbyterian Church. Ruth raised three adoring children, Harold, Marvin and Esther and enjoyed being a grandmother to 7 grandchildren (Lindsay, Jordan, Austin, Reid, Brent, Heather and Kara) and 2 great grandchildren (Ayden and Summer).
Ruth was born on June 18, 1929 in the Lebanon Community of Winnsboro, SC to James Aiken McClintock and Nina Stevenson McClintock. She is survived by her three sisters, Margie Shealy, Tillie Roberts and Anne Fritz. She was preceded in death by her brother James Aiken McClintock, Jr., who was killed in service in World War II. Ruth married Harold (Pete) Price on December 15, 1951 and celebrated 61 years of marriage.
She served for 33 years as an Administrative Assistant at the S.C. Department of Corrections where she was named “Employee of the Year” in 1987.
As an active member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Ruth served as a Sunday School Teacher for the children. She loved young children, baby dolls, baby pigs and growing roses in her garden. She had a playful sense of humor and loved to laugh and make others laugh. She was one of God’s most compassionate creatures who lived by the Golden Rule of doing unto others as you would wish done unto you.
A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at St. Andrews Lutheran Church on Wednesday, December 26 with a gathering in the Church Parlor at 11:00 am followed by a noon service in the church sanctuary. Interment will follow at the St. Andrews Lutheran Cemetery on St. Andrews Road.
