Sara Alice "Sallie" Van Sant

Sara Alice “Sallie” Van Sant, daughter of Eric and Kristin Davis Van Sant, died Thursday, August 4, 2011. Sallie was born in Columbia on February 28, 2009. In addition to her parents, Sallie is survived by her grandparents, Eric and Diana Van Sant of Columbia and Aubrey and Gayle Davis of Richmond, Virginia. She is also survived by aunt and uncle, Erica and Brad Conklin, and their children, Tom and Cassie of Lexington; aunt and uncle, Taryn and Dave Giroux and their son, Luke of Richmond; and many great aunts and uncles and cousins; as well as her devoted nanny, Marjorie Whitehead. Sallie was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Mary Alice Odom Davis of Richmond.

A service will be held 1 o’clock Saturday, August 6, 2011 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1715 Bull Street, Columbia, with The Rev. Dr. Tony Metze officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. A private burial in Elmwood Cemetery will be held Saturday afternoon. Shives Funeral Home is assisting the family.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the nurses, doctors and staff of Palmetto Health Children's Hospital for their dedicated and compassionate care of Sallie over the last 2 years.
