Sara Frances Cassells Scruggs

COLUMBIA – Sara Frances Cassells Scruggs, 68, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2015. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 2:30 P.M. at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service. Dunbar Funeral Home Northeast Chapel is assisting the family. Born in Chester, SC she was a daughter of Anne R. Cassells of Rock Hill and the late James L. Cassells. She was a graduate of Chester High School and Winthrop University. Sara was a generous and loving mother, grandmother and friend. Most important to Sara was spending time with her family and her wide circle of friends. She was a long-time active member of Spring Valley Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon and was a member of the Genesis Sunday School class. She was also a faithful member of the Wednesday Morning Bible Study Group, the Ruth Circle and her Christ Care Group. She was an avid fan of college sports – Go Gamecocks and Tar Heels! She is survived by her children; Shannon (Don) Vecchiarello of Huntersville, NC, Anna (Jared) Eubanks of Atlanta, GA, grandchildren, Nicolas and Julia Vecchiarello and sister, Judy (Jimmy) Sharp of Rock Hill, SC and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Ray Scruggs and her son Christopher Scruggs. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Spring Valley Presbyterian Church, 125 Sparkleberry Lane, Columbia, SC 29229.
