The family of Tammy Adams Stone, 62, of Columbia, South Carolina, are heartbroken to announce her passing on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, surrounded by her family. Tammy faced multiple health challenges with strength and grace throughout her adult life, and ultimately her body could no longer withstand the burden.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, Tammy grew up and continued to live in northeast Columbia, SC where she became known for her loyalty, generosity, and unique sense of humor. She easily formed lasting bonds with friends from all walks of life, many of whom remained close for decades. Tammy's friends will remember her for the joy she brought to good times and the compassion she showed during difficult ones.
Tammy completed an Associate's Degree in Business at Midlands Tech, and attended the University of South Carolina before finishing her Bachelor’s Degree in Business at Columbia College. She worked in Finance and as a Business Analyst for several large Columbia area companies before retiring early.
Tammy's spirit, strength, and warmth touched everyone who knew her, and her presence will be deeply missed.
Tammy was the devoted mother of Adams (Adam) Clarendon Stone of Columbia, a student at the University of South Carolina. She is also survived by her mother, Joan Davis Adams, and her sister, Melissa Adams, both of Columbia, SC.
Tammy has joined her beloved husband, Daniel Clarendon Stone (1963-2018), in eternal rest. Tammy and Daniel referred to their 15-year marriage with their favorite saying: “I love my Honey and my Honey loves me.”
Tammy was also preceded in death by her father, Earl J. Adams (1935-2021), as well as her maternal grandparents, Wilbur and Ruth Rice Davis, and paternal grandparents, Arthur and Flora Crouch Adams.
A memorial service will be held 12 noon, Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Tammy's memory to the South Carolina Jaycees' Camp Hope. https://www.scjaycees.com/camphope
