I’ve been friend with Tom ever since I came to the United States back in 1982. I was FOB (fresh off the boat) when I started my high school year at AC Flora, Tom took me under his wings, taking care of me in classes. He’s like a big brother to me!!

Tom is one of the best cook I ever met, he served me good food at his house every time I come visit, He will make sure my belly is full, of course, I go there all the time just for his food! Ha!!

He will be missed, We will never forget about you! Rest In Peace !

Love,

Dearest Thông,
I'm dì Thanh, mợ Bảy's younger sister. Here in France, we're all shook up and very sad when learning the way you're leaving us.
As far as I remember when I went to Vinh Long to visit your family, I still have vivid in my mind a slender and cheerful young guy. All the tributes I read about you match perfectly with this image of the sweet caring gentleman you were. You're now in that place that's filled with love, up up above among your loved ones Dad, Mum and the ancestors. So to accompany your trip to the other side in peace and serenity, as well as in order help us to soothe our pain, Dì Hằng, Anh, Quyên, Loan, Chinh and cậu Hoàng, and your cousins Tou, Tòi, Gió, Dí, will join to our prayers this beautiful song entitled "Memories" (Maroon 5 Adam Levine).
Here's for the ones that we got
Cheers to the wish you were here, but you're not
'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
Of everything we've been through
Toast to the ones here today
Toast to the ones that we lost on the way
'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
And the memories bring back, memories bring back you
Dear Tân, Chánh, Tuyết, Truyền, Mai, Hoàng, Thiệu with all their wives, husbands and kid,
Those we love don't go away
They walk beside us every day
Unseen, unheard, but always near
So loved, so missed, so very dear
Our families are so far away from each others now but I keep having in mind all the good moments we have been welcomed whenever we went to Vinh Long.
Take good care of yourselves
Love 💝💝💝💝💝💝💝

Anh Thông, I never had the chance to meet you, but I’ve heard of many wonderful memories of you from my mom (your Di 9) and Anh Hoang. I met Di Ba, Anh Hoang and Anh Thieu when I was 7 years old. I wish that I had the chance to meet you when our family reunites. I am proud that my family from Vinh Long shares a bond that can be felt across the world and between the states. Although I don’t see my Vinh Long family often, every time I see you all, I feel a closeness and loving connection. I’m so proud to be a member of your extended family.

Please take care of Di Ba and Rest In Peace.

Uncle Tom,
Thank you for all the love and memories you gave Me and Caleb over the years. You never failed to make us laugh. We all three loved playing around with Nanny and confusing her. You were always a great friend to my family. Tell Nanny I love her, I know y’all will be neighbors up in heaven. I can’t wait to see you both again.

Uncle Thong,

Thank you for being such a loving presence in my mom’s life and for also being one in my life for the short time we got to spend together so many years ago. I was very young when we met, but I remember feeling so loved by someone who had just met me. When we last spoke on the phone a few years ago, you pulled up the letter 10-year old me had written to you to express how much I loved you and how much fun I had when you came to visit. I couldn’t believe that you kept that letter and I felt so touched by how you held onto the memories of our time together. When we met, you were only a few years older than I am today and I can only hope that I can have a loving and lasting impact on my nieces and nephews as you had on me. I regret not reconnecting with you sooner and I was so looking forward to us enjoying time together as a family on the East Coast sometime soon. I wish that we could all be together to celebrate you and tell stories about you, but I know that we will do that even though we are all over the country. You should know that you are loved dearly.

Love,
Michelle

Dear anh Thông,

It's such a shock to learn that you've passed away.
I still can't believe it.
Even you are gone, you remain in our hearts and I still remember, as it was yesterday, the happy days where we played together in Vinh Long: you were always soft and gentle with us (me and my brothers).
It's such a pity that I didn't manage to meet you once after the day we left VN.
We will pray for you to rest in peace among Duong Ba, cô Ba and the ancestors.

Em Tou
