Venus Marie Wright

A memorial service for Venus Marie Wright, 61, of Columbia will be held at 11 o’clock Friday, January 13, 2012 at Shives Funeral Home with The Rev. Barry Gray officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 o’clock at the funeral home. Shives Funeral Home of Columbia is assisting the family.

Ms. Wright died Saturday, January 7, 2012. Born April 14, 1950 in Dixon TN, she was a daughter of Angela R. Henry and the late Harold Roy Reese. Ms. Wright graduated from Eau Claire High School and was a member of the Watts Ladies Singles Sunday School Class at Shandon Baptist Church. She was a Procurement Specialist I with the SC Department of Disability and Special Needs. She was a well loved employee working there since 2009.

Survivors include her son, Ernest (Christine) Wright, Jr. of Columbia; daughter, Tira Sedlmeyer of Clearwater, FL; mother, Angela R. Henry of Columbia; sisters, Verta (Andy) Love of Columbia, Yvette (Buddy) Ellis of West Columbia; brother, Venson (Brenda) Reese of Hopkins; granddaughters, Abagail Sedlmeyer, Shayla Ann McPhetridge, Riley Lynn Milano; great-grandson, Ryan Hill; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tiann McPhetridge; granddaughter, Heather McPhetridge; sister, Vicki Ross and step-father, John Henry.
