William, (Bill) was born on June 15, 1936 in Providence, RI to parents Victor and Anna Mae DeNoncour. William was a proud Marine and Teamster; he married the love of his life, Shirley, while enlisted in the Marines. He lived in Cranston, RI, for the greater part of his life raising the three daughters he adored. In 2003, after retirement, Bill and members of his family moved to Vero Beach, FL where he continued to show his talents by becoming "Trail Boss" for the condo development's beautiful nature trail. In 2023 Bill and his wife, Shirley moved to SC.
Bill was an incredibly hardworking man who spent most of his life as a truck driver. He was an exceptional handyman who could build or repair just about anything. Bill loved fishing, boating, puzzles, war movies and his "stories" on TV. He had great knowledge of so many things, generous, compassionate, and courageous, his tough exterior always gave way to the biggest heart. He took great pride in everything he did, but mostly his family. Bill was a devoted husband, married to Shirley for over 67 yrs., father to three daughters, grandfather to six grandchildren and great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren. He loved his family with every ounce of his being and was greatly loved in return. Perhaps one of the greatest things his family will remember was his humor, which made everyone laugh till the very end. That laughter, along with his strength, generosity, and love, will remain with his family and everyone he met and touched always.
He is survived by his daughters: Diane Maer of SC and Lynn Greco (Paul Greco) of FL. His grandchildren: Kristan Pomfret (Jarriid Pomfret) of RI, Brandon Downes of RI, Racheal Cespedes (Jesse Cespedes) of SC, Corey Champagne of SC, Robert Greco of FL, and Mia Greco of FL. His great-grandchildren: CJ Noel of SC, AnnMarie Champagne of FL, Aubrie Pomfret of RI, and Sophie Downes of RI.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Shirley DeNoncour; his cherished daughter Ann Marie Champagne, his son-in-law, Jay Maer, and his brother Vic DeNoncour.
Bill spent a lifetime building things with his hands, but the greatest things he built was a family bound together by love. His life made a difference, his laughter brought joy, and his love will never leave us. May he rest, reunited with the people he loved so dearly.
