William Nelson Riedy

Mr. Riedy leaves behind his Beloved wife Se Myong. He was the loving father of Randy Riedy, Hyang Im (Riedy) Berrios, Samatha (Riedy) Santee, and the late Christopher Riedy. He was the cherished brother of Marlene (Riedy) Peat, and preceded in death by siblings Richard Riedy, Robert Riedy, and Faye Riedy. He was grandfather to Jonathan, Juliann, Christopher, Gregg, Randy, Joshua, and great-grandfather to Aiden.

William was a veteran of Operation Desert Shield/Storm, where he earned the Bronze Star medal. He served honorably in the United States Army for over 26 years, retiring in 1992. In addition to various stateside duty assignments, he served in multiple overseas locations, including Turkey, Germany, South Korea, and Egypt.

Mr. Riedy attended Augustana Academy where he excelled in sports. He continued to foster a love of sports throughout his life. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and camping; however, he was just as comfortable reading a good Tom Clancy book and doting on his grandchildren. He was also a diehard Florida State football fan.

The Memorial Service and interment will take place Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
