

COLUMBIA A memorial service for William Curtis Wyatt, 68, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014, at Spring Valley Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Jack Heinsohn officiating, assisted by the Rev. Dr. Lamar Potts. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Dunbar Funeral Home Northeast Chapel is assisting the family. Mr. Wyatt passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2014. Born in Augusta, Ga., he was the son of the late Wallace Barnett and Sara Curtis Wyatt. Mr. Wyatt was a graduate of St. Andrews Presbyterian College. He proudly served his country as a lieutenant in the United States Navy, including serving on the flight deck of the USS New Orleans as it retrieved the Apollo 14 moon launch in 1971. Mr. Wyatt retired from Policy Management Systems. He was a deacon and long time member of Spring Valley Presbyterian Church. Following retirement, he worked to become a Master Gardener, and volunteered regularly with the Riverbanks Zoo Botanical Gardens, United Way and Habitat for Humanity. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years, Jane Hayman Wyatt; son, Rev. Dr. Brian Wyatt and wife Sarah of Greeneville, TN; daughter, Jennifer Wyatt Murphy of Charleston; grandchildren, Taylor Murphy, Harrison Murphy, and Wallace Wyatt; and a sister, Bonnie Turner and husband Dale of Richardson, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd, Suite 100, West Columbia, SC 29169, to Rice Estates, 100 Finley Road, Columbia, SC 29203, or to Spring Valley Presbyterian Church, 125 Sparkleberry Lane, Columbia, SC 29229.
