Columbus, Georgia- SFC (Ret) Alberto Lujan, 82, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at his home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, August 26, 2013 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus. Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Alabama. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon,
August 25, 2013 at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the St. Elmo room.
Alberto Lujan was born February 8,1931in Santa Fe, New Mexico to the late Lorenzo Lujan and Aleja Ortiz Lujan. SFC Lujan served his country honorably in the U.S. Army for over 23 years, serving in both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era Conflict. He was Catholic by faith. SFC Lujan was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Ruth Romero Lujan. He is survived by two daughters, Laura (Mickey) Avriett of Lawton, Oklahoma and Gloria (Damon) Strickland of Columbus; five sons, Kenneth Lujan of Columbus, Wayne (Sandy) Lujan of Harris County, Georgia, Jim Lujan of Mobile, Alabama, Paul Lujan of Columbus, John (Sara) Lujan of Columbus; eight grandchildren, Kristy (Shannon) Wiler of Germany, Wendy (Matt) Harper of South Carolina, Jennifer (William) Bullard of Mobile, Alabama, Kenneth Lujan of Mobile, Alabama, Christina (Todd) Knight of Destin, Florida, Angela (Chris) Holland of Phenix City, Alabama, Shawn Strickland of Columbus, and Rebecca Lujan, also of Columbus; one great-granddaughter, Eva Wiler of Germany; other relatives and friends.
