Aleatha Lee Beers

Aleatha Lee Beers, 90, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM in the chapel at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. A chapel service will be held at 12:00PM on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 in Edgewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. Burial will be at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery at 2:00PM.

Aleatha was born on July 20, 1931 to Ozie and Minnie (Maynor) Emanuel in Sampson County, North Carolina. She was the third of seven children, and loved her siblings dearly. Aleatha married, William Charles Beers, on February 3, 1955. She was a fulltime homemaker, raising her three children. Aleatha was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Columbus for 43 years. In her later years, Aleatha enjoyed gardening, going to gospel sings at different local churches and participating in the Senior Choir at her church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ozie and Minnie Emanuel; her husband of 58 years, William Beers; her daughter, Leona Detwiler; her grandson, Brian McCameron; 3 brothers, Ozie, Wardell and Holice Emanuel; and one sister, Vernitha.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Lynne Murillo (Andres) of Georgia; son, Bill Beers (Barbara) of Arkansas; grandchildren, Daniel McCameron (Tracy) of Texas, Dorothy Ritchie (Corey) of Arkansas, Lindsay Murillo of Georgia, Kaitlyn Ford (Ben) of Arkansas; great grandchildren, Miranda, Caleb, Lucas, Matthew and Kacey McCameron; Abigail and Hastings Ritchie; Benjamin, Shelby, Jeremiah and Aubrey Ford; her two sisters, Arbor Runge of North Carolina and Vidia-Deane Ray of Utah.
