It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Alexander Clarendon Chancellor, II. A.C. was born in Columbus, GA on October 3, 1996. He attended Brookstone School in Columbus, Christ School in Asheville, NC, and Georgia Southern University where he was in the Kappa Sigma fraternity. His younger athletic years were spent at Peach Little League and later on the wrestling mat. He was an active member of Young Life throughout high school and summers were spent with family at Lake Martin; tubing, wakeboarding, and working at Chuck’s Marina. College breaks included guiding in Alaska and counseling at Camp Ozark in Arkansas. A true friend to many with a big heart, he loved adventure and the outdoors, being with his friends, and raising JR, the dog he “Just Rescued.”
A.C. will be remembered most for his big smile, even bigger heart, and that mischievous and playful, yet kind and loving, sense of humor that kept everyone in stitches. As one of A.C.’s teachers, Belle Harrell, fondly remembers him, “He was a sweet, young gentleman who walked into her classroom each and every day with a smile on his face and a song in his heart.” His soul and spirit can be described by those who knew him best as gentle, benevolent, and loyal. A.C. will be missed beyond belief by his family and friends, but he is Home with his Father and under God’s love, healing care, and protection now.
A.C. is survived by his loving parents, Edgar and Kathy Chancellor; brother, Chance Chancellor (Julie Garner); sister, Kathleen Chancellor; and grandmother, Becky Gilbert Duggan. Also by aunts and uncles, Chris (Bucky) Layfield, Rig Chancellor, Bill (Allison) Wickham, Ginna Gilbert (Ron Marsh), Laurie Gilbert and family, Pearce (Sabina) Gilbert and children, Julie Duggan and family, Cina (Andy) Smith, Mary Stanley (Tony) Casadonte and children, Elizabeth (John) Alford; cousins Malon (Laura) Wickham, Hanna(Stephen) Baer, Mary Bailey (Ben) Bryan, Margaret Wickham, Will Wickham, Lindsay (Samuel) Marsengill, and Trey (Lindsay) Chancellor. A.C. was preceded in death by his brother, Wick Chancellor; grandparents, Edgar and Jane Chancellor; Billy and Frankie Wickham, Carlton Duggan, uncle, Kirven Gilbert, and cousin, Wynn Chancellor.
