She was born on February 27, 1944, in Columbus, Georgia to the late Ella Odom Hass and Ivan Hass. Alice was one of seven children. She was married to the late Harry Henderson.
Alice worked for many years in the textile industry as a weaver, working for Southern Phenix Textiles. Her family was her world, she enjoyed spending time with them, whether it was family get-togethers, traveling to the beach or going camping or at the pool. Alice was known for her banana pudding, none other could compare. Alice was Christian by faith, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by other than her parents and husband, her son, Harry Henderson, Jr.; sisters, Virginia Lewis and Lorene Motos; brothers, Austin Hass, William Hass, and Eugene Hass.
Alice leaves her loving memory to be cherished by her daughter, Wanda Jenkins; son, Kenneth Henderson; sister, Lois Winslow (Doug); grandchildren: Michael Henderson (Nicole), Mistie Christopher (John), David Brett Jenkins (Kimberly), Kyle Henderson (Katrina), Krystle Henderson, and Josh Henderson; fifteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Alice’s life will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2020, at 2:00 PM in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus, Georgia. Family will visit with friends from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, Striffler-Hamby Mortuary will be following the guidelines set forth by the CDC and Governor Brian Kemp to maintain social distancing for those attending the funeral. Wearing a face mask is recommended.
