Alice Jean Robertson

Alice Jean Willingham Robertson, 80, of Columbus died on Sunday, May 25, 2014. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles Hasty, Jr. and Dr. Jones Doughton officiating. The family will receive visitors immediately following the service according to Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus.

Alice was born on May 2, 1934 in Mitchell County, Georgia to Samuel and Jessie

Willingham. She passed the State Bar Exam in 1956 and worked as a paralegal in both Camilla and Columbus. She began working for the Pastoral Institute in 1978 and was instrumental in establishing the Employee Assistance Program. In 1991, she founded Columbus & the Valley Magazine, publishing a bi-monthly magazine about Columbus until her retirement in 2001.

She is survived by two sons, John G. Kelly (Cindy) and W. Donald Kelly, both of Columbus. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Karen Willard (Jason) of Sandy Springs, GA, Jordan Cartledge (Matt) of Columbus, Alison Kelly of Oelwein, IA, and Thomas Kelly of Columbus. Her husband, Richard Robertson, and grandson, Joshua Kelly preceded her in death.
