"Buddy" was born on July 25, 1928, in Phenix City, AL; the son of Audrey Elizabeth Harper and Alto Hurtt. His family moved from Phenix City to Columbus when he was a young boy into a house across the street from a young girl. He was educated in Columbus, GA and graduated from Jordan High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army, served in an anti-aircraft battery in Korea, during the Korean War. When he returned home a man from Korea and that girl across the street was a beautiful woman, they were married on December 22, 1950 and have been for almost 70 years. Allen was devoted to his wife and family, they meant the world to him. He was a lifelong Georgia Bulldog fan and former member of Kendrick Baptist Church.
"Buddy" was preceded in death by father Alto Hurtt; mother Audrey Elizabeth Harper; step-mother Nelle B. Hurtt and step-father Roy S. Harper.
"Buddy" is survived by: his wife, Betty Cullifer Hurtt; two sons, Ronnie Allen Hurtt, Gary Walter Hurtt; and a sister, Eloise H. Gaines. Buddy also leaves behind, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren to cherish his memory.
