Dear John, carl and Elaine:

Your mother was such a special person and so dear to Glenn and me. We knew her from the Shaw Class and also was a faithful member of the Oglethorpe Chapter of DAR. She was one we could always count on to do a job and do it well in our civic dealings and personal relationship with her. Both she and Carl were very special to us, as were you John. We know she is with God now, and will always be thankful we knew such a special family.

John and family,
I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. I just saw her the week before at my mother's funeral, Martha Gordy, which was on April 24. My mother also was at Covenant Woods with your mother until she had to move to assisted living. We always were so fond of your mother and saw her every time we visited .

She will always be Mrs. Vann to me. When I spent so much time in the 70s in Columbus, I got to see her often. I was always struck by her warmth, charm and dignity. I considered her and Carl to be my special friends. They, as much as anyone, made me feel that Columbus was a second home. She was always kind and generous to me and my bandmates. I miss her and my heart goes out to her family and loved ones, especially Elaine.

My sincere condolences to the family of Anita Vann. A gracious lady. I knew her for just a short time, as a resident of Covenant Woods, but we became speaking acquaintances and, eventually, we would exchange a gentle hug. She will be missed by her friends at Covenant Woods..
