
Ann Thorpe Stuart, age 72, resident of Columbus, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016 at Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Thursday, June 30, 2016, 3 p.m. with Reverend Andy Merritt and Reverend David Howle officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Money, Jimbo Money, Bucky Ferrell, Wayne Bishop, Jonathan Thorpe, and Langdon Snell. The family will receive friends at the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 from 5-7 p.m.
Mrs. Stuart was born January 20, 1944 in Columbus. She was retired from Standard Concrete Company where she faithfully worked for many years. Mrs. Stuart was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church and member of the Circle of Love Sunday School Class. She was also heavily involved with the church benevolence committee. Mrs. Stuart enjoyed preparing meals for her family and was always involved with the grandchildren’s activities, who lovingly called her "Nanniebelle."
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Dewey M. Thorpe and Addie Mae Kirkland Thorpe and brother-in-law, Jerry Snell. Mrs. Stuart is survived by one daughter, Tracey Mize and her husband Mat of Columbus; two sons, Jeff Gordon and his wife Pam of Cataula, Georgia and Pete Stuart and his wife Karen of Gray, Georgia; one sister, June Snell of Fortson, Georgia; one brother, Mitchell Thorpe and his wife Cathy of Columbus; six grandchildren, Madison Mize, Kirkland Mize, Pasley Gordon, Sarah Gordon, Clay Stuart, and Kason Stuart; precious aunts; an uncle; beloved nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
