Anneliese Meier Schwarting, age 94, entered eternal life on January 25th, 2023. Ms. Schwarting moved to Gulf Breeze FL from Columbus GA in 2018 to live with family. Most knew her as "Oma". She was born in Fürth, Germany on November 2, 1928.
Ms. Schwarting was a beloved housewife to 4 children. She lived her life "play and later work". Ms. Schwarting worked alongside her parents in Germany until she met and married her husband Henry John Schwarting. Ms. Schwarting was a volunteer with her church "St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church" in Columbus GA, babysitter with the Catholic Church in Fort Benning GA, and loved helping kids with the Boy Scouts of America. She enjoyed flowers, needlecraft, dancing, waltzes, folk songs, playing the piano, and The Lawrence Welk Show.
She is survived by her son, John Henry Schwarting, her daughter Evelyn Ann Seames, her son Richard Lee Schwarting "Christy", and multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry John Schwarting, and her son, Gerald Arthur Schwarting, as well as her parents, Johann Baptist Meier and Elise Steger.
Burial services will be private for immediate family. Ms. Schwarting will be laid to rest in Georgia next to her husband at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery.
The family asks in lieu of flowers that friends and family make a donation to their charity of choice or help with a scholarship fund that is being established in "Oma's" honor at the site below.
