Our favorite memory when Avery, Corey, and Tati visited Hawaii was when we boogie boarded on Waimanalo beach. The waves were perfect curls that you could catch and ride down to the shore. We giggled a lot, played like kids again, and felt alive and free. I came back to this beach on Tuesday June 3rd after I heard the news and held an ocean lei ceremony for Avery in remembrance of this special day and beach.  I still feel his bright giggling and laughter here and every time I come to this beach I will hear his spirit spark with joy and light. We love you so much Avery. May you feel free my dear friend.

Prayers, love and empathy for these beautiful people. Avery was a precious soul and my heart aches for this family. He always had a big hug and a smile for me.

To the family of Avery, my name is Aleks and I was proud to call myself a close friend of this wonderful young man. We never had a bad time whenever Avery was around and even when he wasn’t feeling his best, he never failed to provide us with laughter.

I know that there isn’t much that I could possibly lift your heavy hearts, but please know that I did love and care about Avery and he had many friends, including myself, who will miss him immensely! 💜

Oh, oh, oh…no no no. Sweet Avery. In case your family didn’t know you had friends far and wide. All ages, shapes and colors. Jen and I met Avery when he worked at Proctor Starbucks. He was so personable and kind and nice. Always had a smile. He was not just a barrista, he was a friend. When he came to our house for a taco party, Kiwi, our green cheek conure parrot bit his ear. Avery asked about him after that all the time!
So, even though it is too soon for everyone you left behind, your earthly journey this time is done. Be at peace and know how much you were loved and how many lives you touched. Much much love for your soul at rest.

Janet, I am saddened to hear of Avery's passing. I haven't seen y'all in many years, but remember Avery as being such a nice young man. Please know that you and all the family are in my thoughts and prayers. Again, my deepest condolences.

Many memories with Avery but this beach trip was fun! My sister in law, Ashley & I went on an adventure one night with Avery to seek out a Geocaching marker he wanted to find-we had to take our shoes off and hold them above our heads for a pic to get the next clue! Fun & spontaneous would describe Avery & he had the best smile. He will be missed.

My heart is absolutely broken. I loved my Avery so much. I remember third grade for each of my Haskell babies, but especially for Avery. I am sure you remember that Avery (like one of my sons tried to rewrite some of the school rules) and I always saw that beautiful child unhappy. I was determined to help him show everyone what a cool kid he was! And of course, when I knew he was coming, I knew that was the year to begin River Kids. Remember Avery and some of my kids going to the county commission meeting with signs protesting the widening of GA Highway 315. (Environmental damage) They even went to a meeting when there were reps from state department. They sat on the front row! Avery asked a question which the commissioners or state people could answer. My Avery was on the spotlight at school yesterday! All the teachers and parents were so impressed!
Avery marched to his own music! He learned and by that I mean he truly “digested “ what he was taught because if you hooked his interest, nothing stopped that curiosity! You have a person whose love and compassion led many people to times of peace.  
The last couple of times that I have seen Avery, he gave me that beautiful smile, huge hug, and sweet words to make his old teacher cry! 
Avery loved his family and it was so evident that his Faith in God was strong and that he always knew he had a great family who loved him. 
I am praying for you all! Love all my Haskells!

You were my first friend when I moved to Columbus and I loved you since day 1. You taught me how to geocache, woke me up in the middle of the night to look at the stars, and brought your smile when I needed it most.

Told each other truths, shared secrets, & witnessed a lot of good for each other

I wish so badly I could go back to our last conversation & to really ask and know how you were doing.

Today there was the first true summer storm & along side the rain I cried in the drive way aching to hug you.

Avery and I decked out in our HOSA gear. This was taken at a conference in Atlanta. We competed in a competition and won third place. Our victory picture with our medals, we were so proud.

Avery and I grew up together. In high school we were in HOSA together and at one of the conferences we attended, there was a dance party later that evening. We went and had a blast dancing together. Our Junior Prom was coming up and he wanted us to go together. It was honestly the last thing I wanted to do, but I couldn’t say no to Avery. He was the absolute best prom date and the only person I ever wanted to share that experience with. Thank you Avery! Love you always, Shelby.
