Barbara Lucille White Caffey

Barbara Lucille White Caffey, 87, of St. Simons Island, GA, (formerly of Columbus, GA) passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Southeast GA Glynn-Brunswick Hospital, Brunswick, GA. Funeral services will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, 11:00AM with Rev. James M. Bush officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. Interment will follow at the Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 7-8 p.m.

Mrs. Caffey was born October 19, 1924, in Brockton, MA to the late Samuel Forrest and Mable Alice White. She married the late Milton H. Caffey, Sr. in 1946 and was a proud Army wife traveling all over the country with their family throughout his military career. Mrs. Caffey was a homemaker and a proud supporter and group leader for the Girls Scouts for over 35 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton H Caffey, Sr. and son, Forrest Cleveland Caffey.

Mrs. Caffey is survived by a son, Milton H. Caffey, Jr. (Debbie) of Valdosta, GA; two daughters, Linda I. Caffey of St. Simons Island, GA, and Sandra L. Thompson (Kevin), Cameron, NC.; 4 grandchildren, Chance Caffey(Jana) of Lake Park, GA, Chase Caffey (Elayne) of Eastman, GA, and Kendall and Carter Thompson, of Cameron, NC; two step great grandchildren, Hana and Breana Missildine of Lake Park, GA; one brother-in-law, Zane Caffey of Oraville, CA; and two sisters-in-law, Doris Donahue of El Sobrante', CA, and Iva Lee Long of Seattle, WA.
