Barbara Marlow Peoples Mock, age 89, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Barbara was born on May 23, 1935 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Lavonzo Marlow and Margorie Matilda Whetstone Marlow.
Barbara attended Jordan Vocational High School and played softball as a pitcher in the Columbus area; after graduation, she then went to school for her associates degree. She worked as a computer systems analyst for the Pentagon in Fairfax, Virginia, she retired after 20 years of dedication. She was part of the Toastmasters organization in Virginia before moving back to Columbus, Georgia in 1993. Upon her return back to Columbus Barbara worked for H&R Block for many years.
Some of her favorite things to do included yard work, she loved gardening and had gorgeous flowers such as daylilies and roses. Barbara had a passion for making Cracker Box Ornaments in her spare time. She enjoyed chocolate milkshakes, and many other items from Burger King and also Country's Barbecue.
Barbara is preceded in death by her two sons, Robert H. Peoples and Jon Peoples and her parents.
She is survived by two children, Patricia Stephens and Jeffrey Peoples (Eugene Anderson); sister, Lavonda Sue Duncan; grandchildren, Trent (Nicole) Stephens and Chance Stephens, and great grandchildren, Brodie Stephens and Katelyn Rulon; her precious pets, Pedie and Sweetie; as well as additional family members.
A Visitation for Family and Friends for Barbara will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in Edgewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907 with a Funeral Service beginning at 3:00 PM. Burial will be in Parkhill Cemetery.
