Barbara Lee Tyler, 80, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on May 5, 2025 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born on October 10, 1944 in Blakeley, West Virginia. Barbara was married to the late Douglas “Doug” Tyler. Barbara worked for over 30 years at Martin Army Hospital in administration. When she retired, Barbara found great joy in vacationing with her grandchildren. “Granny” as she was affectionally known by her grandchildren was a kindred spirit who loved her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed watching Georgia Football, and her favorite TV shows. One of her favorite things to do was play Rummy with Janice Sizemore and reminisce about life. She always enjoyed trips to the beach or the mountains, shopping and she loved her chocolate.
She leaves her loving memory to be cherished by her son, David Turvin; daughter-in-law, Tiffany Turvin; her beloved grandchildren: Kaylyn Boone and her husband Hunter, Denise Turvin, Stone Timmons, and Hansen Timmons; her very adored great-grandchildren: Brooklynn, Braylen, Braxton, and Brynnleigh; and other family members and friends. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Lucy and Cecil Eddy, Sr.; her husband, Douglas Tyler; and her brother, Cecil “Van” Eddy Jr.
Barbara’s family will visit with friends and family on Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071, Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 3:00 PM in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907 with Pastor Jared Owen officiating.
