Benjamin Walker, 90, of Columbus, GA passed Friday, December 14, 2018 at Orchard View. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Striffler-Hamby with Rev. Kevin Calhoun officiating. The family will receive friends Monday December 17, 2018 from 5:00-7:00.
Mr. Walker was born August 30, 1928 in Upatoi, GA, the son of the late James and Martha Walker. Benjamin was drafted into the army and spent three years of service in which he was involved the Korean Conflict. There he earned numerous commendations including a Purple Heart. Once he was finished with the Army he would go on to meet the love of his life Jean Walker. They got married on July 13, 1954 and spent sixty four cherished years together. He went on to work for the post office as a postal clerk in Columbus for twenty eight years before retiring. Mr. Walker was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Some of his hobbies were listening to his wife, Gardening, and Camping.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Walker; one daughter, Gail Walker McCard; two grandchildren, Dustin Harrelson (Heather) and Courtney Harrelson; three great grandchildren, Kadence, Emily, and Gunner. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends to cherish his loving memory.
