Bennie Fred Mitchell, age 76, passed away on July 17, 2011. Funeral services will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Skip Speed officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 - 2:00 PM.
Mr. Mitchell was born in Slocomb, Alabama on September 11, 1934 to the late Joseph Albert Mitchell and Rhoda Bell Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Clyde E. Mitchell, Blanche Mitchell Smith, Louise Mitchell Reardon, Coy Mitchell, Roy Mitchell and Moody Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by a sister, Voncile Tate of Byron, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to any Hospice organization.
