Bennie Alvin Moye (72) of Smyrna, Georgia passed into eternity to meet his Savior on October 27, 2024. He died of heart failure after a long illness. He was born in Phenix City, Alabama in 1952, to parents Floyd Gordon Moye and Katherline Kinney Moye.
Ben graduated from Columbus High School in Columbus, Georgia and attended Columbus College. He worked as Store Manager for Wendy’s and Office Manager for H&R Block. The majority of his career was in the hospitality industry as a Senior Banquet Server. He served in high-end hotels and private clubs in the Atlanta area.
Ben loved adventure and he traveled across the United States and Canada, with multiple trips to Europe. He was a serious collector of travel and photographical books of foreign lands. He often reminisced about his travels with friends to France, Italy, and England and longed to return for more adventures. Ben was a generous and caring son, brother, uncle, friend. He loved attending family events and interacting with his nieces and nephews. He was a lover of film score music and enjoyed playing guitar along with Neil Young recordings. He loved learning and researching various topics, and watching You Tube shorts. Ben taught us perseverance and determination; he believed in continuing to fight the battle because we never know what impact our efforts will accomplish.
Ben is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Katherline, niece Christy Moye Raj, nephew Jack Gordon Moye, great-nephew Shane Moye and great-niece Abby Jo Raj.
Ben is survived by siblings and in-laws: William Moye (Joy), Mercer Moye (Eleta), Kathy Moye Robertson (Randall), and Ginny Moye; nieces and nephews: Matthew Moye (Dana), Josh Moye (Amber), Jake Moye (Lori), Tabitha Moye Rice (Philip), Mercer Moye Jr. (Kylie), Tammy Moye, Jennifer Robertson Koch (Ken), Jason Robertson (Caroline), Jessica Robertson Neal (Christian); a large multitude of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday November 2, 2024 in the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel with Pastor Seth Hon officiating. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at 1:00 P.M. prior to the service.
