

Mrs. Bertha Ola McGee Jamison Calvert, age 92, a resident of Midland, GA, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, at Piedmont Hospital. A Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Calvert will be conducted Saturday, May 16, at 1:00 p.m. at Central Missionary Baptist Church, 5760 Central Church Road, Midland, GA 31820.
Born August 6, 1933, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Bertha was the daughter of the late Eddie and Grace Winston McGee. She retired from the General Motors’ Saturn Plant in Columbia, TN, where she worked in the Quality Control Lab. While living in Columbia, she attended New Life Church, where she organized and managed, We Care, the church’s food bank ministry, for more than ten years. When her husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, she made the decision to sell her home and move to Columbus to be closer to her daughter.
She is survived by her sisters, Joyce Cunningham of Columbus, GA, and Marie Cunningham of Centerville, MI; her children, Cheryl Jamison of Columbus, GA, Michael Jamison of Parker, CO, Mikki Raines (Tony) of Waverly Hall, GA, and Vernell Calvert (Trina) of Eaton, OH.
She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren, Toia Sykes Goodman (Amajak) of Atlanta, GA, Tony Raines (Nancy) of Atlanta, GA, and Morgan Jamison of Baltimore, MD; her great-grandchildren, Amaya Goodman (“Lili”), Tony Raines Jr., and Legend Raines, all of Atlanta, GA; and her nephew, Carl Calvert of South Sioux City, NE.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Louis Jamison and Emmett Calvert; her son, Kelvin Jamison; her sister, Bessie Charles; and her brothers, William Cunningham, Robert Cunningham, and Carl Cunningham.
She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
