.Betty Ann Bryant, age 88, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Tuesday July 3, 2018. Betty was born December 2, 1929 in Montgomery, Alabama to Della Jordan Blackwood and Leland Standford Blackwood. Betty graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology. Betty operated and owned Medical Arts Laboratory before managing the Medical Lab at Doctor’s Hospital. Betty’s legacy will live on through her family; as a young widow, she set an example with her work ethic and value of education. Betty loved to watch her grandchildren and attended all their activities. She insisted that they stay close as a family by visiting each other often. Betty was a lifelong member of St Paul United Methodist Church and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and at Callaway Gardens.
The family will welcome guests for A Memorial Celebration of Betty's Life, Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a reception from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2101 Wildwood Ave. Columbus, GA. Reverend Doctor Buddy Cooper will officiate.
Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband James Roy Bryant, Jr. She is survived by; daughters, Kimberly (Kenneth) Turnbull, Dell (Charlie) King, Bea (Buddy) Miller; son, James (Jim) Roy Bryant, III; daughter-in-law, Brenda Bryant; granddaughters, Kimberly Turnbull, Kristen (Nick) Burnham, Mallory (Drew) Osborn, and Caroline King; great grandchildren, Kenzleigh Grace Osborn, Kylor Cole Osborn, Palmer Avery Burnham, and Payton Lilly Burnham, nieces Dawn Braswell and Angie Coleman.
