Betty Astin Davidson

Betty Astin Davidson, age 98, of Ellerslie, Georgia passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025. Born in Danville, Virginia on June, 24, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William Linden Astin and Myrtle Irene Brown.

Betty married the love of her life Charles Preston Davidson Jr. whom she was married to for 50 years, and they had three children who she loved very much. In 1956 Betty, among others, founded the St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Columbus, Georgia. She attended St. Matthews for 69 years and adored her church family. Betty was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and loved going to Panama City, Beach to see the ocean. She had a big heart and loved everyone, she will be missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Preston Davidson Jr., her parents--William and Myrtle Astin, her two sons--Steven and Richard Davidson, and her grandchild--Michael Ryan Davidson.

Betty is survived by her son, Michael Collins Davidson.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00PM-7:00PM Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Striffler Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, Georgia 31907. A Funeral service will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church 4026 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. Burial to follow after Church Service at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907.
