Betty Gow, age 77, resident of Phenix City, AL and former resident of Columbus, died on Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Columbus Medical Center. Graveside services are scheduled at Main Post Cemetery, Fort Benning, GA on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, 11 a.m. with Reverend Hank Reeves officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, November 8, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. Mrs Gow, daughter of the late Seborn E. McLendon and Vesta Williams McLendon, was born November 2, 1933 in Donalsonville, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Gow; a son, Howard Gow; and a daughter, Mary Ann McDonald. Mrs. Gow is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Gow Pottinger; four granddaughters, Montana Dunton and her husband Edward of Fort Benning, GA, Melissa Pottinger of Columbus, Jennifer Harris and her husband Justin of Macon, GA, and Jessica Benitez and her husband Rich of Fort Richardson, AK; five great-grandchildren, Justin Ashley, Joshua Ashley, Tayler Cox, Kailyn Benitez, and Madelyn Benitez; loving companion, John White of Phenix City, AL; other relatives and friends. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
