Betty Strickland Green, age 86, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on January 15, 2022. Family will visit with friends at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary from 1:00 PM until 1:50 PM on Thursday, January 20 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary; Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. The entombment will be in Parkhill Cemetery and the family requests it be private.
Betty was born in Boston, Georgia on January 22, 1935 to the late, Carl Minor Strickland and Nadine Alexander Strickland. Her mom passed shortly after her birth and she was raised by her loving grandparents Madison and Sally Alexander. She worked as a teacher’s aide at Hannan Elementary until her retirement in 2003. Betty loved to travel, line dancing, staying active in her church, and her many friendships. She was a God fearing woman, a wonderful mother that cherished her children and grandchildren. Throughout her life she enjoyed laughter and because of this nature she found happiness and joy everywhere throughout life.
Preceded in death by her husband, William Wandell Green; father, Carl Strickland; mother, Nadine Alexander Strickland; Grandparents, Madison Alexander and Sally NeSmith Alexander.
Survivors include her children, Dale (Janice) Green of Fortson, Georgia, Danny Green of Columbus, Georgia, Gary (Bonnie) Green of Cataula, Georgia, and Wanda Green of Columbus, Georgia; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
