Betty Jenkins Grimes July 3, 1929 - December 06, 2010 COLUMBUS, GA— Betty Jenkins Grimes, 81, of Columbus, GA died Monday, December 06, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 9, 2010 at St. Luke United Methodist Church with Dr. Hal Brady and Reverend Helen Berenthien officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, December 8, 2010 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Grimes was born July 3, 1929 in Columbus, GA, daughter of the late Charles Hampton Jenkins, Sr. and Gladys Ophelia Johnson Jenkins. She was a member of the George Walton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, volunteered with the St. Francis Auxiliary, and was a member of the Philonian Club. Mrs. Grimes was also a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Eugene Grimes. Survivors include two sons, Charles Brent Grimes and his wife, Laura of Columbus, GA, and William Eugene Grimes and his wife, Ruth of Lawrenceville, GA; three grandchildren, Whitley Elizabeth Grimes, Mary Cate Grimes, and Charles Brent Grimes, Jr.; one brother, Charles Hampton Jenkins, Jr.; one sister, Mary Jenkins Mills; numerous other family members and friends.
