Betty Largent, 57, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 7, 2018. The Largent family would like to welcome friends and loved ones for visitation on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Graveside service will take place at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road Columbus, Georgia, on Monday, July 16, 2018, at 10:00 am. Betty Jo Largent was someone who cared about the world and the people in it; she wanted to see things grow, thrive, and be successful. She was someone who went the second mile with everything she did—whether it be as a mother or as Mr. Wade’s right hand at Wades Cleaners. Aside from work, if she wasn’t recycling or gardening, she was with her boys working as a Boy Scout mom or baking cookies and brownies for them to have a sweet treat. Ever since she married the love of her life, Nathan Largent, in September of 1985, they worked diligently together to build a loving home. She loved her family more than words could ever describe and will be missed terribly by all who got the privilege to know her. She is preceded in death by her: stepfather, George H. Mackey; a sister, Debbie Gonterman; and her grandparents, Jennie Hampton and CO Hampton, Sr. She is survived by her: loving husband, Nathan Largent; her sons, James Christopher Largent and Adam Jonathan Largent; step-son, Daniel (Jodi) Campanelli; step-grandson, Logan Campanelli; mother, Imogene Mackey; sister, Janice (Dan) Crain, Jr.; and her “granddogs” which she loved very much, Maggie, Durp, and Ren. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Animal Ark Rescue, www.animalarkrescue.com or Shriner’s Hospital for Children, www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/shc Warm memories and offers of condolences may be shared with the Largent family at www.SHColumbus.com.

I am so saddened by Betty's passing. From McPherson Drive-Red Rover, Red Rover, to the smell of a burning house, to hanging by the creek...to recently chatting too dang long in the parking lot of Walmart..I will remember Betty and cherish our memories. Wow! There are so many! To the family: Know she was loved and she lived a wonderful life. My heart aches along with yours.

I am so saddened by the news of Betty's passing. My heart goes out to her family and to everyone at the Wade office. She was such a pleasure to talk to. I remember how concerned she was with doing a good job when she took over Munda's duties in comparison. She had a very caring and sweet sole that people who encountered her could appreciate. She will be missed. I am so very sorry for your loss. My prayers and condolences to you all.

I was deeply saddened and shocked to hear about Betty. As was her way, she went above and beyond to make me feel welcome when I first started with Wade. Nearly every morning I was greeted with "Good Morning, Ma'am", and I have missed hearing that. She was an exceptionally thoughtful and caring person and there is a great emptiness left in our office. May God grant comfort to all who mourn her passing. She is truly missed by all who knew her.
