

Betty attended Jordan Vocational High School, followed by Massey Business College in Atlanta, Georgia. She worked in accounting for 65 years and retired from Baker and Latimer in Columbus, Georgia. She was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Police Ladies Auxiliary in 1970 and served in many positions throughout the years. Betty and Freddie both loved their church, North Highland Church, and were members since the 1950’s. They both loved serving their communities in several ways, one way was being Georgia Poll workers.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. Her passing was preceded by her father, Thomas B. Stonell, mother, Epsie Clemmons Stonell, husband, Freddie Richardson, sister, Peggy West, and son-in-law, Thomas Frederick Stewart. Survivors include her three children, Freda Stewart, Tommy Richardson (JoAnn) and Steve Richardson (Kathy). Also surviving is her sister, Brenda Olsen (Gary), her niece, Debbie East (George), many brothers and sisters in law, Mickey (Sandy) Richardson, George (Gwen) Richardson, Marilyn Richardson, David (Dale) Richardson, Renee (Ronnie) Spivey, Diane Smith, Hazel Greene, her 5 grandchildren, Ellen (Eric) McKelvey, Joshua (Rebecca) Richardson, Melissa Haringa, Emily (Ethan) McEachern and Stephanie Haskell, 15 great grandchildren, August Bray, Annabelle Richardson, Brinley McKelvey, Levi Haringa, Ava Richardson, Aleck Haskell, Cade McKelvey, Ivan Haringa, Ella Haskell, Oliver Haringa, Clive Haringa, Evie McEachern, Asher Richardson, Freddie McEachern, Selah McEachern, her godson, Trent (LeighEllen) Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Striffler Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 followed by a Celebration of Life funeral service at 2:00 PM. The graveside committal will follow at Parkhill Cemetery.
