Mrs. Shepherd was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and retired from Civil Service at Fort Benning, Georgia after 22 years. She continued her public service as a volunteer with United Way for many years.
Betty G. Shepherd was married to the late SGM Fred M. Shepherd for 42 years.
Survivors include one son, Mike Shepherd and his wife Diann of Pensacola, Florida; one daughter, Alicia Lively and her husband Gene of Fortson, Georgia; two grandchildren, Angela Mott and her husband Keith, and Julie Sewell all of Pensacola, Florida; several great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
A celebration of her life will be held at Franciscan Woods, 2425 Williams Road, Columbus, Georgia 31909, on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at 4:00 PM, according to Striffler-Hamby, Columbus.
