Funeral services will be Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 2 PM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA with Reverend Bobby Brown officiating. Visitation for Family and Friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery.
Bill was born on November 6, 1933 in Columbus, GA to the late Samuel Medford Carver and Carrie Elnora Kitchens Carver.
Bill was a man with what you call Wondering Feet, so his mother use to say. He joined the U.S. Navy when he was only 17. He remained in the service for the next 4 years and when he was discharged, he stayed in California where he met and married his first wife, Kathlene McPartland. They had 4 children, Jim, William, Regina & Kathy. Bill married twice after. But his feet brought him back to Columbus, GA where he met Janice Hughes. They were together for over 30 years.
Bill had several careers in his life which include, a California Police Officer, a Lineman for the Power Company, the owner & operator of his own Body Shop Repair and finally the owner & operator of a Truck Driving Company where he employed as many as 4 drivers. He was quite the businessman. Bill finally retired at the age of 80. He was a generous man and a man of great wit. Bill was a great storyteller and enjoyed sharing a lot of his life stories.
He lived his life on his own terms and was a fighter to the end. One of Bill’s famous sayings was “I’m Not like you earthlings”.
Bill is survived by his Children, Eric Carver (Patricia) of Gainesville, GA. also Jim, William, Regina and Kathy.
