Bobbie Jean Babb

Bobbie Jean Babb, age 85, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025. A visitation for the family and friends for Bobbie will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia, followed by a celebration of Bobbie's life at 2:00 PM.

Bobbie was born in Dallas, Texas on October 2, 1939; the daughter of Grady and Myrtle Thornton. She worked at a few places through the years, but the titles she liked most were wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was well respected, well liked and loved by all those that knew her. The family values and work ethic she taught her children were second to none. She enjoyed spending time with her family and made many friends at the Calvary Community that she cherished. She enjoyed her crafts especially crocheting and diamond art painting. She loved her sweet dog Bella, who was constantly at her side. Bobbie also enjoyed going on casino trips to Biloxi and Montgomery. She loved to travel especially when she was with her family and went on many cruises with them.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Melvin L. Babb, her parents, her sister, Lessie Thornton, and Brother Grady E. Thornton, Jr.

Survivors include her dear sister, Janie R. Dixon. Children: Nomie (Greg) Alexander, Donna (J) Dickens, Johnny (Bree) Babb, Grandchildren: Brandi (Kevin) Kirkland, Gregory Alexander Jr., Jodi (Blake) Bourne, Krysten (Cal) Weatherford, River (Holly) Babb. Great grandchildren: Kinsley Kirkland, Cole (Katie) Kirkland, Katie Kirkland, Brock Bourne, Mason Bourne, Tatum Weatherford, Evie Weatherford, Hayes Babb. Several cousins, nieces and nephews.
