

Bobby D. French, 81, of Midland, GA., died Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Columbus Hospice house. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA. 31907. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10:00 am, Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the funeral home. Mr. French was born January 13, 1930 in Sheridan, AR to the late Robert Nate French and Alta Lorine Hamner French . Mr. French served his country in the United States Army until his retirement as a Staff Sergeant after 20 years, 9 months, and 8 days of service. He also owned and managed the Star mount Gulf station for many years and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. He was a foster parent for the state of Georgia for more than 25 years, during which he was very active in the lives of many children. In addition to his parents, Mr. French was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, JoAnn French, and a son Ronny French, and a sister, Faye Henson. Survivors include two sons, Bobby D. French and his wife, Georgia of Garland, TX, and Jerry K. French and his wife Alicia of Fortson, GA; one daughter, Amanda L. French of Columbus, GA; one sister, Anne Wilson, three grandchildren, Kristina J. French, R.
