Bobby Gene Herring

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, March 08, 2010 in the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA with Reverend Kenny Savage officiating. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. this afternoon Sunday, March 07, 2010 at the funeral home.

Mr. Herring was born March 02, 1928 in Columbus, GA son of the late Floyd L. Herring and Vera Mae Spivey Hall. He was a member of the Local Iron Workers 387 Union and spent 30 years at Mead as a Crane Operator and permanent maintenance crew. Mr. Herring was a Professional Motor Cycle Rider winning numerous races. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being with his friends and UGA Football.

He was a beloved husband, brother, dad, granddaddy and friend.

Mr. Herring was preceded in death by three siblings, Freddie Herring, Jack Herring and Ruby Cofield.

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Miller Herring of Columbus, GA; two children, Jody Herring(Ann) and Brandi Savage (Derek) all of Columbus, GA; three brothers, Floyd Herring, Gerald Ray Herring and Gary Wayne Herring; two sisters, Faye Weaver and “Pete” Herring Brown; four grandchildren, Ashley Herring, Presley Herring, Tatum Herring and Dylan Savage; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends.
