Bobby Wright Porch of Columbus, Georgia died Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, Georgia. He was 85.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:00am in the sanctuary of Wynnton United Methodist Church, Columbus, GA. Interment to follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors in the Fellowship Hall at 10:00am.
Bobby was born June 6, 1937 in Guntersville, Alabama to Selma Porch and Ebernelle Wright.
He graduated with honors from The University of Alabama in 1959 with a degree in Chemistry. He joined the National Guard after graduation where he served as a Medic in the Alabama Army National Guard for a year. He married Cloie Roberson Porch in 1960 and moved to Dallas Texas where he worked for the Coca-Cola Company as a plant manager. In 1963 he moved to Columbus, GA to work for Royal Crown Cola as a chemist and was head of quality control in the United States and Canada. He retired from RC Cola after 40 years of service.
Bobby served as the President for the Columbus Jaycee’s in 1970 and throughout the years worked on several local and state political campaigns. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, gardening and traveling. He especially enjoyed the family annual beach trips to Destin, FL each Summer and his camping trips to Deep Creek North Carolina with the Wynnton Methodist Church youth group. Bobby was an avid Alabama fan, his favorite colors were crimson and white and favorite three words to yell were Roll Tide Roll! He has been a member of Tide Pride for over 55 years.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents Selma and Nelle Porch, his wife of 60 years Cloie Roberson Porch and his brother Joe Porch.
He is survived by his son Gregory Wright Porch of Baker Florida, daughter Prissy Mudge (Danny) grandsons; Collin Alexander McCann, Daniel John Mudge III, Morgan Charles McCann and his sweet cat Max, all of Columbus.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Columbus Hospice House for their wonderful care and support and to Johnny Pryor his personal caregiver.
