Bobby Leon Simmons, age 83, of Columbus, GA, passed away on August 20, 2020. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2020, at 11:00 am, Striffler-Hamby Mortuary; a visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 am and concluded at 10:50 am.
Bobby was born on September 28, 1936; the son of Floyd Simmons Sr. and Effie Royals Senior. Bobby was raised and attended schools in the greater Columbus area. Bobby married Barbara Janice Ford on May 14, 1960; they had two sons, Mark and Matthew. Bobby worked at Columbus Carpet Mills for over 30 years before his retirement and then sold insurance for several years. Bobby lived “The Golden Rule” and thought this world would be a much better place if we all did. He was a hardworking man that provided for his family and taught his sons the value and sense of accomplishment that comes of hard work. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends visiting, watching the Braves, country cooking and fried catfish. Bobby loved his family and was grateful for the opportunity to be a husband and father.
He is preceded in death by: his wife, Barbara; his parents Floyd and Effie; three sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include: his two sons, Bobby Mark Simmons, Brian Matthew Simmons; his daughter-in-law Jasmine Lynn Simmons; and his grandson, Brian Nathaniel Simmons.
