Brenda Massey

Brenda Massey, age 80, resident of Monticello, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery on Saturday, November 2, 2019, 3 p.m. with Reverend Mike Reeves officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus.

Mrs. Massey, daughter of the late Luther Cleveland Malone and Essel Viola Braswell Malone, was born June 2, 1939 in Phenix City, Alabama. She retired as a Quality Control Supervisor where she faithfully worked for over 25 years. Mrs. Massey then assisted her husband operating home businesses for several years. She loved her grandchildren, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her pets. The family remembers her as a beautiful and gracious lady who enjoyed entertaining her family, always having kindness and generosity to everyone

Other than her parents, Mrs. Massey was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Lamar Massey; two sons, Christopher Hamilton and Benjamin Toddy Massey; and a daughter-in-law, Jackie Massey.

She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Dunn of Monticello, Georgia and Shari (Jeff) Turpen of Ball Gound, Georgia; one son, Victor Lamar Massey of Jacksonville, Florida; five grandchildren, Kimberly Colbert, Michelle Jones, Danny Williams, Benjamin Colbert, and Kassi Hamilton; several great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
