

Brenda Fay Wilson, 70, of Columbus, GA, passed away Wednesday,January 27, 2016 under the watchful care of Gentiva Hospice. She was born February 5, 1945 in Columbus to her late parents, John Calvin and Edith Irene Melvin. Mrs. Wilson was a lifetime member of Second Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, and adored her church family. She enjoyed her weekly shopping trips with her late sister Bernice. Mrs. Wilson was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a passion for her family, and especially proud of her grandchildren. She will be missed by all.
The family will receive guests Friday, January 29, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm in the St. Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA. Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 30, 2016 11:00 am in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby followed by interment at Parkhill Cemetery with Revered Mike Reeves officiating.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Wilson is preceded in death by her sister Bernice Simpson. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Jerry Wilson; daughter, Sheree (Ty) Tolbert of Columbus, GA; son, Jay Wilson of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Tyler, Trenton, and Trae Tolbert; nieces, nephews, other family members, her church family, and many friends.
The family request, in lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 2800 2nd Ave. Columbus, GA 31904.
