Brian Lee Stucky (10/19/1957 – 1/3/2022) was born in Rago, Kansas to Lawrence Stucky and Gertrude Wallace Stucky. He was the youngest of six siblings. Brian grew up on a farm in Kansas under his father’s tutelage and this is where he learned his incredible work ethic. In between hours of working on the farm and school, he spent time reading the dictionary for fun. He also loved the outdoors, nature and sports, including but not limited to basketball, football, tennis, and ultimate frisbee.
Brian met his wife of 28 years, Stefani Sisk Stucky, in 1989 in a whirlwind while working together at a bank in Wichita, Kansas. By 1991 they were married and had welcomed their first daughter, Hannah Rachel, into the world. Amanda Jane came shortly afterward, with the final puzzle piece of the family, Rowan Elizabeth, arriving in 1999 after the Stucky’s trek to Columbus, Georgia.
Brian built an impressive resume, starting with repossessions and collections and working his way up the ladder into account management and credit card processing. He worked for TSYS/Global Payments from 1997 – 2021 when he retired early due to medical reasons. He maintains a longstanding legacy at the company through those who worked with him and he was once labeled “a big deal in Canada”, which has been neither proven nor disproven.
While he certainly seemed to enjoy working at TSYS/Global Payments, being “Grandfather” was the greatest joy of his life. Hannah and her husband Michael Holliday have four children – Ezra Elias Contreras, Ava Jane Holliday, Isla Rose Holliday, and the newest edition/his namesake, Elijah Brian Holliday. He is also survived by Amanda Larson and her husband Ryan Larson, Rowan Stucky and her fiancé Jacob Lierly, and his ex-wife Stefani Sisk Stucky. He spent his final years with Lisa Kristol, whom he loved very much. His other loves include KU basketball (Rock Chalk), the Kansas City Chiefs, hiking, poorly-written crime shows, and his shepherd-husky mix named Gia.
Brian could be described by most as stoic and no-nonsense, but he had a quick, dry sense of humor and some of the goofiest dance moves you’ve ever seen. He was also generous, loving, and a solid rock against the tide of female energy in his life. He never missed a sporting event and loved being involved in both his children's and his grandchildren’s lives. He always answered the phone when you needed him (or wanted to annoy him with your chatter) but he wasn’t afraid to tell you if you were wrong and had the infinite knowledge to tell you how to fix yourself.
He was the greatest Father, Grandfather, Provider, Mentor, and Beholder of Random Knowledge anyone could ask for. His legacy will live on with his family and all those who loved him.
