Catherine Mason

Catherine Mason, age 90, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, November 13, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. A graveside celebration of Catherine's life will follow at 2:00 PM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. Catherine was born July 29, 1930 to Maude and Burl Ganey in Bay Minette, Alabama, where she also met and fell in love with her husband of 73 years, Manuel Joseph Mason. They settled in Columbus and became members of Midway United Methodist Church. Catherine found great joy in her employment, caring for children in daycare, for over 20 years. She also loved camping, fishing, and most of all, sharing meals with family and friends. Her son, Michael Mason; mother, Maude Ganey; and father, Burl Ganey; sisters, Lucille Jackson, Verla Mae Coram and Jessie Shiver; and brothers, Bo Ganey and Jack Ganey; preceded Catherine in death. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Manuel Joseph Mason; daughter, Barbara Mitchell (Wayne); and daughter-in-law, Sandra Mason; granddaughter, Rebecca Wood (Oliver); grandsons, Brian Evans (Gina), Andrew Evans (Sarah Trimble); great-grandchildren, Kieran Wood, Levon Wood, Dhavid Evans, Brianna Evans and Abigail Evans; nieces; nephews; other family members and many friends.
