C.B. Ray

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, June 7, 2010 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 with Reverend Udell Addsion, Reverend Thomas Pope, and Reverend Gary Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will greet friends the day of the service from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Ray was born, April 18, 1918 in Phenix City, AL. He was a veteran of WWII and retired after 24 years of dedicated service from the Columbus Police Department as a detective. Mr. Ray was a Mason and a member of the Rosehill Lodge, #484, an ordained deacon, and a member of Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 20 years, Jessie Ray of Columbus; one son, David Michael Ray of Columbus; one daughter, Charlotte Gordy and her husband, James of Smiths, AL; two stepsons, Donnie Collins and his wife, Linda of Columbus, and Jack Floyd of Tallassee, AL; two stepdaughters, VirginiaTeal and her husband, John of Columbus, and Beverly Ellerbee of Moultrie, GA; one sister, Virginia Brandstead and her husband, Darrell of Roanoke, VA; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
