Professor Charles C. Carter age 73, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2023 at his home in Columbus, GA. A Celebration of Charles’ Life will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Bethesda Baptist Church, 3830 Highway 85, Ellerslie, GA. Visitation will be at 10:00 am, one hour prior to the 11:oo am Service. Reverend Doctor Steve Stewart will officiate.
Charles was born in Shelbyville, TN to his late parents Clifford and Addie Lou Weaver Carter. They moved to Columbus, GA shortly after his birth which became his lifelong home. He was a brilliant student with a passion for learning. He earned his Juris Doctor from Mercer University, and many more degrees over his years of continued learning. Charles loved God and serving his church, spending time with his family, and partaking in his many hobbies with friends. He was a wonderful father and taught his children by example to love and take responsibility. Charles loved his grandchildren and could always make them laugh at his clever jokes. Charles will always be remembered as a devoted family man, a dedicated Christian, and enthusiastic teacher.
Charles is survived by his loving wife Bonnie Carter; daughter Casie Rohan and son-in-law Will Rohan; son, Jackson Carter and daughter-in-law Rebecca Carter; his sister Sallie Carter. Grandchildren, Jade Jolley, Charlotte Jolley, and Ava Carter; nieces; nephews; many friends; and many brothers and sisters from his church.
