Charles Keith Croley went home to God, June 12th, 2021. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 6:00 til 8:00 pm at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus; Service will be Friday, June 18, 2021 at 11:00 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus; with interment at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.

Charles was born on July 26, 1951 in Hopkinsville Kentucky; the son of Bill and Joan Croley. Commonly known as Chuck, he served 20 years of total service with the United States Army National Guard and the United States Army from 1972- 1992. After he was honorably discharged, Chuck Keith Croley went on to work for Dana Eiland Construction Inc. as a framer. Chuck eventually pursued a career at Ft. Benning as a maintenance custodian with WHINSEC. His attentive work ethic expedited the institute’s new home, where his charisma filled its halls with positive energy. When Chuck wasn’t working diligently for WHINSEC, he could be found at Country’s Barbeque where he enjoyed his favorite food and shared his love and gift for live music. His love of music, sense of humor, and big heart will be sorely missed. He touched the lives of so many people and could often be heard saying “Hey Hey” as he entered a room.

Chuck is survived by his girlfriend, Yvonne, his brother Bill and his wife Debra, his sister Joyce, his son Chris and his wife Lakisha, his step-daughter Patty, his niece Lynn, her husband Shaun and their children Layla and Nic.

Chuck would bring me some gingerbread cookies every week when he bought some. We’d talk about music and his family. You will be missed Chuckster. I went by your desk on Monday and was so sad knowing you’d never be there again. RIP my friend

Odie & Me want to share a moment about this great man , Chuck . First of all, if you really , really knew Chuck , you knew he was a great , Big Hearted Man. Chuck could put you in check fast but later come back and mend that moment in an honest , caring way. All he ever wanted was truth and to follow through with your word . I , Kelvin had spent many nights as possible with Chuck . I can truly say , Chuck was a genuine man of his word . I'm not going to give out my personal life details of my past but rest ashore, Chuck was there for me during some of my lowest times of my life . He supported and respected me as a man and had faith in me when most turned their backs on me . On top of being one of Ft.Bennings most loyal and best employees , Chuck was good and caring to whom he had any dealings with . People, we've all have lost many family and true friends like Chuck lately. In not sure of his relationships with you all but , I loved Chuck as my brother and dear friend . I'll miss you my old brother and as God promised , enjoy your new life in Heaven , Chuck . Love your sister : Odie and brother in God , Kelvin w Thomas Sr. 🙏 GOD IS ABLE !!

P.S. Chuck , I made it to 50 yrs old - on the 15 of June . Thanks for being there for me and Odie all these years ! I will miss you brother... love you man ....

Chuck and I enjoyed many conversations about music, west Kentucky, and his military experiences, especially as a pistol marksman. He was, without a doubt, the most likable person I have known.
